For evaluating RE<c breakthroughs – Energy cheaper than coalSolar and Wind have three fundamental drawbacks stemming from the restrictions and limited remote places they can be located:

1) desert and remote technologies suffer from inherent unreliability of supply through reliance on weather patterns, and

2) energy losses over long distance transmission lines, and

3) replacement due to constant exposure to extreme weather conditions.

And there’s more drawbacks for Solar and Wind to confront:

4)  Solar and Wind are not appropriate economic energy breakthroughs in terms of serving large areas of population, cities, where the bulk of energy demand is located, and

5) Distributed electrical power energy situated locally, in cities and at industrial sites, is the over riding trend for the future transformation of the global electricity industry, solar and wind cannot provide the flexibility to fill this need.

Evaluating energy technology in terms of RE<c must [ renewable energy cheaper than coal ] include both Capex and Copex components [ Capital costs and Operating costs components ].

Both Solar and Wind rely on long distance transmission to large population areas to support their revenues.

The capital costs of Solar and Wind facilities must include a significant proportion of grid interface, and actual grid amortization.

In summary, in terms of energy cheaper than coal, solar or wind there are 5 disadvantages of solar or wind for selection as optimum energy sources:

1) desert and remote location technologies – Solar and Wind – suffer from inherent unreliability of supply through reliance on weather patterns, and

2) suffer energy losses over long distance transmission lines, and

3) need replacement due to constant exposure to location at extreme weather condition sites.

4)  Solar and Wind are not appropriate economic breakthroughs in terms of serving large areas of population, cities, where the bulk of electrical energy demand is located, and

5) Distributed electrical power energy situated locally, in cities and at industrial sites, is the over riding trend for the future transformation of the global electricity industry, Solar and Wind cannot provide the flexibility to fill this need.

The breakthrough discovery of ‘electricity from water” suffers none of the limitations stated for coal, solar and wind and is the clear optimum technology for building  electricity generation companies for the remainder of this century.

In particular,

1) Can be located anywhere – no environmental impact study or permission required.

2) Does not require long distance transmission lines.

3) Not exposed to the weather.

4) Suitable for servicing large population centers.

5) Suitable for distributed energy demand in cities and at industrial facilities.
