The benchmark for bringing renewable energy technology mainstream is for the clean generation of Base Load Electricity costing less than generating base load electricity by burning coal. Coal is traditionally the cheapest, and environmentally the most threatening fuel source for base load electricity generation.
The truth is that no fossil fuel burns properly. Oil, coal and natural gas all give off toxic and carbon dioxide pollution which have reached and even currently exceed their maximum possible “safe” output levels.
Excessive concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) gases in the atmosphere are causing unnatural weather events and acidification of the oceans. 25% of carbon emissions are absorbed into the ocean causing the dying of coral reefs.
